Police commissioner gives N1m to man who gave info that led to ritualist Ifeanyi Dike’s re-arrest (Photos)

The man who gave information that led to the rearrest of suspected ritualist Ifeanyi Dike has received the N1m pledged by the Commissioner of police.

Ifeanyi Dike had allegedly raped, killed and removed vital organs of an eight-year-old girl, Victory Chikamso, before escaping from police custody.

It was reported that Ifeanyi Dike was able to escape because one of the policemen on duty on Saturday night identified as Johnbosco had unlocked the handcuffs for Dike to write his statement.

JohnBosco was later dismissed and another Divisional Police Officer in Rivers State (name withheld) arrested on the orders of the State Police Command for his alleged involvement in the escape.

Here are photos of the Commissioner of police redeeming the force’s pledge:

Shocking JSS 2 Student Who was Declared Missing Found in Her Boyfriend's House in Ogun State

Guardians of a 15-year-old JSS 2 student were left in shock after the girl who went missing for seven days was found in the lover's house.

Asmau Ajibade

A 15-year-old Junior Secondary School 2 pupil of Agbara Commuinty Junior Secondary School, Ogun State who was declared missing by the police in the state left many people in shock after she was found having fun in the boyfriend's house.

The girl identified as Asmau Ajibade, went missing for seven days after she left home for school.

According to Punch, the girl lived with the guardians, Alhaji Rauf Adetona and Alhaja Ajarat Adetona, on Area 8, Road 810, Block AM, Plot 18, OPIC Estate, Agbara, off Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Ogun State before she reportedly disappeared.

Ajibade it was learnt had left the house at about 7.30am last Monday in her school uniform. The belief in the house was that she had gone to school. The guardians became apprehensive when it was 4pm and she had not returned home. Record of the school reportedly revealed that she was absent that day.

Ajarat said the girl had been living with them since she was four years old, adding that she was surprised by her disappearance. She said it was the first time she would leave home without returning.

She said, “She went to school on Monday and has not returned. Her teachers told us that she didn’t come to school that day.

“But a cobbler around here told us that he fixed her torn sandal that morning. The cobbler said she seemed to be in a hurry as she told him that somebody was waiting for her.

“She had never done anything like this, although her teachers had told us that she was keeping bad company; and I warned her to stop associating with bad people.

“Her parents had divorced. His father died while she was six months old. She had been living with us for 11 years now. Her attitude that morning did not show that she planned to do anything.”

Rauf said he was on his farm when a call came in that Ajibade was missing. He said they were told at the school that Ajibade might have absconded with some of her school friends and the incident reported at the Agbara Police Station.

He said, “She always prepared the food she would eat at the school and did same that morning. My wife gave her money in addition to the food and she thanked Alhaja and left. I went to my farm around 9am. At about 4pm, my wife called me that Asmau (Ajibade) had not come back home.

“I told her to be patient because she came home around 3.30pm at times. When it was 5pm, she called me back and said she had gone to Asmau’s school, but she didn’t see her.

“On Tuesday, we went back to the school. The teachers at the school told us that she had become a wayward girl and had been moving with a friend who had been expelled from the school.

“We reported at the police station on our estate and we were told to come back on Wednesday if we didn’t see her.

“On Wednesday, we were directed to the Agbara Police Station. The police collected her picture from us and promised to radio other divisions. They said she might have eloped with a boy.”

However, the girl was rescued last Saturday while living with a guard identified as John who is her lover in the Agbara area of Ogun State. John was apprehended along with a cobbler, Moses who hooked the girl up with John.

One of the guardians, Alhaji Rauf Adetona, said Ajibade confessed that it was the cobbler who hooked her up with John, adding that she spent four days with the lover.

He said, “When the cobbler saw your (The PUNCH) report on her disappearance, he informed John. When John tried to return her to the estate, she fled. She spent four days with John. We found her school uniform with John.

“A family friend saw her in Oko Afo, Badagry, and called us. She wanted to run away from him because she knows him. But the man lied to her that he would never tell us.

“They agreed to meet somewhere in the community the following day and that was how we found her.

“She took us to the house where John works as a guard and said it was Moses who hooked her up with John. The police have arrested the two of them.”

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed John and Moses’ arrest.

“The girl has been reunited with her guardians and the suspects arrested. They will be arraigned for abduction,” he added.

Lion bites car tyre causing it to explode, family trapped inside

A family on safari were left in a serious dilemma after a lion bit through one of their car tyres, leaving them stranded in the middle of South Africa's Kruger National Park.

Schoolboy Sean Obeirne was with his family when he noticed a large, male lion come up to the back of their car and stare in at them.

One of the lion singled out another oncoming car and after sniffing around the bonnet and bumper moved on to check out the tyres.

The lion then unexpectedly clamped its jaws on to the tyre, while the family watch from inside recording the events unfold.

Suddenly a loud bang and hissing of air is heard as the tyre exploded, forcing the shocked lion to leap backwards.

But the family were then left trapped inside the car dozens of miles away from help and with no way of changing the tyre surrounded by the pride.

Still filming, Sean Obeirne's family pull alongside the stricken car and gets them to drive along the road, away from the lions where they park next to each, other using car doors as shields.

Sean's father gallantly gets out his jack and changes the car tyre so the family can carry on their way.

Sean said after seeing the lion begin biting the car tyre: 'There was an almighty bang and the lion investigating the car ran off in fright.

'It took a second to register what had happened but once we had, the intensity of laughter tripled.

'We laughed and laughed and only after a monumental giggling session did we realised that perhaps this situation was not so funny for occupants of the affected vehicle.

'We then went over to investigate and offer a helping hand.

'To my shock one of the people in the now three-wheeled car was a prefect at my school, an older cool boy, who I otherwise would never have interacted with outside of school.

'Once the shock had faded, my dad began helping to change the tyre. We made sure we were as far away from the lions as the car with the flat tyre could manage.

'The tyre changing went as smoothly as could be expected in such a setting and we managed to make it to breakfast no more than 3 and a half hours late.'

Giant python attacks Indonesian man before being eaten

Pekanbaru, Indonesia | AFP | A giant python attacked an Indonesian man, nearly severing his arm, before hungry villagers chopped up the reptile and ate it, a police chief said Wednesday.

Security guard Robert Nababan crossed paths with the giant creature while patrolling an oil palm plantation in the remote Batang Gansal subdistrict of Sumatra island on Saturday.

“The python was 7.8 metres long (25.6 feet), it was unbelievably huge,” local police chief Sutarja, who like many Indonesians only has one name, told AFP.

Sutarja said the 37-year-old Nababan, who sometimes liked to eat snake, tried to catch the giant python and stuff it in a gunny sack.

But the huge serpent fought back and bit him on his left arm, nearly severing it from his body.

Nababan was then rushed to a hospital in a neighbouring town for treatment.

The police chief said the intervention of another security guard and several local residents, one of whom hit the snake with a log, helped to save the man’s life.

Hungry locals later killed the snake and displayed its body in the village before dicing it up, frying it and feasting on it.

Giant python, which regularly top 20 feet in length, are commonly found in Indonesia and the Philippines.

In March, a 25-year-old Indonesian farmer has been discovered inside the belly of a giant python after the swollen snake was caught near where the man vanished while harvesting his crops on the eastern island of Sulawesi.

Crowd Cheers as Woman Raped, Beaten, Decapitated and Later Drank her Blood (Photos)

A woman was publicly raped, whipped and decapitated by Congo rebels who later drank her blood after she served them ‘forbidden fish’.

Crowds cheered when the woman was dragged naked through the streets of Luebo to her death after the rebel leader sentenced her and her step-son served the fish in their family restaurant.

The Kamuina Nsapu rebel fighters stop having sex, washing themselves, eating meat and fish when they enter battle and they believed eating the meal had removed their protection.

Video footage has surfaced on Whatsapp after it was circulated after being filmed on April 8.

Luebo resident told France 24: ‘They said she gave them beans that contained pieces of a small, local fish.

‘Convinced that she had broken their protection charms, the council of rebels led by a man named Kabata sentenced both the woman and the son of her husband’s second wife [the young man was also working there that day] to commit incest in public.’

The rebels, after the public rape, beheaded the woman and the young man, believed to be in his 20s, with machetes, several then drank their blood.

The bodies were left on show in the town centre before being moved to a local cemetery. The killings took place when the rebels held Luebo, which has a population of 40,000, for 20 days from March 31 before the Congolese army forced them out.

During their short grip on power they killed about ten people, including two police officers and Luebo’s administrator’s as well as burned buildings, took over the local church and banned people from working and school.

The rebel movement cyrstalised when tribal chief Kamuina Nsapu was killed by the Congolese army in August 2016. His death sparked widespread violence and horrific crimes including rapes, torture and the use of child soldiers.

The violence has claimed more than 3,300 lives, according to the influential Roman Catholic Church, and displaced 1.4 million people with both the Government backed militia and the rebels accused of atrocities.

Meet the 43-year-old Man With Four Wives and Ten Children (Photos)

A man has found himself in the spotlight after showing off his four wives and ten children in a new reality television show.

Musa Mseleku and his four wives

His wives have described him as a loving, humble and respectful man who provides for his family. Musa Mseleku is a 43-year-old man from KwaZulu-Natal, who has four wives and 10 children.

His story and that of his family is being featured on Mzansi Magic as a new reality show called Uthando Nes’thembu. His first wife is MaCele, a woman Mseleku said was not a woman of many words but would strike back if provoked. She is, however, open about her feelings.

“She will tell you when she likes or dislikes something,” said her husband.

The second wife is MaYeni, who is calm, but will push back when necessary. Mseleku has described her as a good listener who will ask for clarification when she does not understand what you’re saying.

The third wife is [Thobile] MaKhumalo who Mseleku described as an open book. She used to hide her feelings before but is now more open.

His fourth wife, MaNgwabe, is quiet and can hold a grudge for a long time, said her husband.

“She always reminds me of past incidences when I forgot to do something,” said Mseleku.

He first met his second wife, MaYeni. At the time, he did not think he would enter into polygamy. When he finally made up his mind about having more than one wife, her family did not approve of it.

As he was still waiting for his then girlfriend to approve of their relationship, he met MaCele, the first wife, whose family did not have a problem with polygamy, so he married her first.

The last two wives were introduced to each other when they were still his girlfriends, and have been close friends since. His wives have described him as a loving, humble and respectful man who provides for his family.

Though some may say Mseleku has more than enough children, he said he chose polygamy because he would like to have 20 children. Mseleku admitted that polygamy was not easy, but said money made things easier, as he could afford to take care of his family.

All his wives live in separate nice houses and have two cars each. There is a family mechanic, and a driver to take his children to school. Though he did not tell us the exact number, Mseleku said he had more than 15 cars, with all of them having personalised plates saying “thanxma”.

He did it as a way of thanking his mother who passed on after a long illness. Before she died, he said his mother told him he would never be poor in life, and she was right.

We were not told what he does for living, but the man is rolling in cash. This is what Twitter detectives found out about Mseleku, who is apparently an author:

His lifestyle has led to a lot of mixed reactions on Twitter, with some saying polygamy is better than cheating, while some said they could never be in a polygamous marriage.

Fake Buhari: Fani Kayode Gives 32 Reasons to Show Buhari Has Been Cloned

Fake Buhari: Fani Kayode Gives 32 Reasons to Show Buhari Has Been Cloned

The ridiculous rumours making rounds in Nigeria is that President Muhammadu Buhari is still in London, United Kingdom and a cloned version is presently presiding over the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

Former Minister of Aviation, Olufemi Olukayode has taken to Facebook to buttress Nnamdi Kanu's claim of President Buhari being substituted with a double who now parades himself as the President.

He highlighted some observations to support the claim.

See the observations below.

Been thinking...

1. Buhari went for surgery in January.

2. The story was that he didn't quite make it and was brain-dead.

3. Aisha came back crying in April.

4. Aisha was later barred by Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari from seeing Buhari.

5. In June/July, Buhari started receiving visitors in London.

6. Story was that he was always laughing (methinks his double was still learning the ropes and was always laughing to hide what he didn't know).

7. Buhari supposedly arrived Nigeria in July.

8. The Buhari wasn't holding meetings or seen in public.

9. The Buhari became more vicious (even beyond his own evil threshold).

10. Ango Abdulahi had earlier alleged he was a double Buhari.

11. FFK had a private interview alleging it was a double (buhari's look-alike, Jubrin from Sudan) masquerading as president buhari.

12. AIT was threatened with calamity should the interview be aired.

13. The interview was docked and AIT paid.

14. Nnamdi Kanu alleged he was Jubrin, buhari's look-alike from Sudan and not Buhari.

15. The Army was sent to attack Nnamdi Kanu and kidnap him.

16. The attack was most unwise and was too risky to the country, yet it happened (the cabal wants the story dead by whatever means).

17. The IPOB attack backfired.

18. The world powers commenced asking questions.

19. The London surgeons are being questioned.

20. America, UK, France are smelling blood and seek engagements.

21. Buhari or Jubrin/Cabal are vulnerable and pull out of most global organizations.

22. The alleged double (buhari's look-alike, Jubrin from Sudan) doesn't look up the few times he's in public.

23. The alleged double seems 15yrs younger.

24. The alleged double is somewhat shorter than the twin.

25. The alleged double has a different earlobe.

26. The alleged double has a hairline a distance away from the ears.

27. The alleged double is darker brown.

28. No one undergoing chemotherapy would have facial hair intact at the time.

29. The new Buhari sees without glasses.

30. The new one has a different nose; beaked like an Arab's.

31. Zahra complains to the minister and not her father.

32. The Army is suddenly very powerful and extremely dumb!

Fulani Marriage Rite Gone Wrong As Suitor Dies During Flogging

Fulani Marriage Rite Gone Wrong As Suitor Dies During Flogging

The traditional Fulani traditional marriage rite, Sharo, went horribly wrong weekend, as a suitor, Yari Inusa, died being flogged by another suitor, Ahmed Saidu.

Saidu who is now with the Katsina State Police Command following his arrest after the sad incident at Durmin Biri village of Kafur Local Government Area.

The duo were said to have engaged in a Fulani traditional game known as Sharo, in which suitors flog each other with the strongest and bravest marrying the bride.

There are reports that rather than Saidu flogging Inusa on the buttocks or back, he decided to hit him (Inusa) on his head leading to his death.

Katsina State police command spokesperson, DSP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the incident, said father of the deceased, Inusa Muhammed, reported the matter to the Police, which led to the arrest of the suspect, Saidu.

Isah said the victim was hit in the presence of many, who came to witness the traditional game, noting that the victim fell on the floor after being hit and was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead. Isah said: “The corpse has been released to the family and buried according to Islamic rites. The suspect, upon arrest, confessed to the crime and as soon as we conclude investigation, we shall charge him to court.”

Leave office or office will leave you, Obasanjo tells veteran African leaders

Sep 11, 2017 1:00 PM

Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has advised long serving African leaders to leave office because if they did not, ‘office will leave them.’

According to him, a reason why most of such leaders stay on was because they had fears. He added that they were, however, becoming a rare commodity.

“Well, really after 12, 15 years, some of them up to 30, some have fears, I think that now they are becoming a rare commodity. And maybe if you don’t leave office, what happens, office will leave you,” he stressed.

Well, really after 12, 15 years, some of them up to 30, some have fears, I think that now they are becoming a rare commodity. And maybe if you don't leave office, what happens, office will leave you.

He reserved praise for Angola’s dos Santos, who recently opted to step down after 38 years in charge. Obasanjo said he hoped other leaders will follow dos Santos’ lead. “Not too long ago, president dos Santos decided to leave office, maybe others will see wisdom in what he has done.”

The 80-year-old was addressing the topic of political tension in Togo, where he is on record to have called on President Faure Gnassingbe to leave office.

“I believe whatever he has to do in terms of development, whatever ideas he has, he has he must have exhausted them by now, unless he has something new that we do not know,” he told the BBC late last week.

In the audio, the caller informed the recipient of the new development concerning President Buhari nephew, Mamman Daura and Mr. Abba Kyari, saying that they had sneaked into Kaduna from abroad on a chartered plane.

The caller further stated that Daura and Kyari were received by the Director General of the Department of State Security (DSS), Lawan Daura.

The caller disclosed that; “They held a meeting, including Sani Zango Daura. They said they held a meeting; they are looking for a way out. They are in a cul-de-sac.  They said Mamman Daura is trying to convince the President to resign on the condition that Abba Kyari be made Vice President.”

US Army Consultant endorses ‘Operation Python Dance’, says Military have no Choice

US Army Consultant endorses ‘Operation Python Dance’, says Military have no Choice

Adeyemo Akintunde is thinking about life.
Yesterday at 2:32pm · Lansing, MI, United States ·

Re: “Operation Python Dance”

Here in the United States, I’ve worked with some top military brass (my boss in this picture is a colonel and counsel to General Vadnais of the United States Army).

Military strategists don’t like war/conflicts, but they’ve no choice. In any military operation, things can get ugly very fast.

When I (as a law clerk to the General Counsel) participated in “Operation Northern Strike” scenario, Captain Ryan tasked me to review a pocket-size rule of engagement for soldiers, so I included all statutory and humanitarian laws in it.

During the simulation exercise, we got some feedbacks from foot soldiers and their leaders: JAG (acronym for military lawyers) officers are unrealistic, they said.

When real hostilities begin or any military operation is initiated, and a soldier faces an imminent threat to his life, he doesn’t revert to a pocket-size manual on the rule of engagement (he doesn’t call the Commander-in-Chief)his first instinct goes to his basic training: And that can mean anything, depending on individual soldiers.

Does a soldier face the risk of being tried in a military court, for violations of human rights? Yes, but guess who will judge him? A soldier (or soldiers) who had been in his shoes. With all the atrocities committed in Iraq, Israel, and Afghanistan, how many soldiers are in prison?

My point is this: Don’t mess with soldiers with guns and bullets. Let’s embrace peace, for “dead men tell no tales.”

Biafra: Soldiers Surround Nnamdi Kanu's Residence

Biafra: Soldiers Surround Nnamdi Kanu's Residence

There is palpable fear in Umuahia, the Abia State capital as some soldiers have laid siege to the Afaraukwu country home of the leader of the Indigenious People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, PUNCH reports.

The soldiers arrived the community on Tuesday barely 48 hours after the clash between the Army and IPOB members on Sunday evening, which left three people injured.

The soldiers returned with about 10 Armoured Carrier Vehicles and seven Hilux vans.

The development has caused panic in the area, forcing shop owners to close immediately.

Some of the soldiers also invaded the Abia State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists on Aba Road, Umuahia, and destroyed laptops and other valuables.

According to journalists at the secretariat, the soldiers claimed they saw somebody taking photographs of them from the building.

The Chairman of Council Mr. John Emejor has confirmed the incident.

Emejor who expressed disappointment over the incidents said a National officer of the Union Ezeogo Bonny Okoro was slapped by one of the Soldiers.

He said, “Our press centre was invaded by soldiers, two Journalists lost their IPads and phones, while a national leader in the office was attacked.

“Our stand is that those involved in this attack on innocent Journalists should be fished out and punished in line with the constitution of the Country.”

The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 14 Brigade, Major Oyegoke Gbadamosi, confirmed the incident.

He said he had asked the chairman of the Council to send the photograph of the damaged office to him.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has released pictures to back-up claims of invasion of the residence of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu in Umuahia, Abia State.

DAILY POST reports that the group and the Nigerian Army have been trading blames over reported confrontation between the two, as the military kicked off Operation Python Dance II.

On Saturday, the IPOB circulated some pictures to prove the alleged invasion of Kanu’s house.

Hausa/Fulani community in Asaba attacked, many feared dead, injured

Hausa/Fulani community in Asaba attacked, many feared dead, injured

Unidentified gunmen stormed Hausa/Fulani community in Asaba, capital of Delta State killing about four and injuring many others.

The suspected assailants, who invaded the unsuspecting Hausa/Fulani settlement at about 10pm Friday night at the Abraka market within the Asaba metropolis, killed three men, one woman and left several others with injuries.

Armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, the suspected killers shot sporadically into where the people were sleeping.

A credible Hausa source told our correspondent that the suspects also threw bomb into their Mosgue at Cable point, adding that a brave Hausa man picked up the bomb and threw it into the river before it could explode.

The source who pleaded anonymity at press time, said armed soldiers and policemen came to their rescue, chasing the suspected invaders away.

He said the security agents took the injured persons to the hospital for treatment and deposited the corps of the deceased at the mortuary, lamenting that they did not sleep all through the night.

Man flogs wife for closing her legs when he tried to sleep with her

Man flogs wife for closing her legs when he tried to sleep with her

A man reportedly battered his wife for proving stubborn every time they tried to sleep together.

The incident happened in the early hours of morning at Ewusu Street in Ketu, Lagos where they reside.

It was gathered that angry Destiny Odiaka reportedly moved to touch her wife, Uzor, but she stubbornly covered her legs after much pleading and persuasion.

Odiaka then brought out cane and rained beatings on her legs to force her to open up breasts and other part of her body. She shouted and attracted their neighbours that early morning before the neighbours intervened.

It was learnt that when they eventually opened their door and the neighbours attempted to know what was the cause of the problem, the wife did not say anything but the husband replied that she has proved too stubborn in the house.

The neighbours left them and returned to their apartments concluding that it was husband and wife matter.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the wife thereafter reported the matter to the police and Odiaka was arrested and charged before a Lagos court for assault under the Criminal Code.

He pleaded not guilty at the Ikeja Magistrates court where he was arraigned.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect her bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 5th of December, 2017.

Community in Shock as 'Dead Man' Casually Walks Into a School in Broad Daylight

Community in Shock as 'Dead Man' Casually Walks Into a School in Broad Daylight

A man who was already 'dead and even buried' has shocked many people after he walked calmly into a school, causing an uproar

Overjoyed: Family friend Cathrine Thinto and his uncle Sello Poo (left) are happy that Lunga (middle) is still around. Photos by Samson Ratswana

A South African identified as Lunga Poo, has caused a stir in his community.

According to Daily Sun SA, first the man was missing, then he was dead, then he was buried . . .and now he's alive again!

Pupils at Lunga Poo’s former secondary school in Alexandra, Joburg thought they were seeing a ghost when he came strolling through the gates on Friday.

After all, he had been buried only a week before! Pupils scattered in fear and teachers called his family.

His uncle, Sello Poo (45) rushed to the school where he found his nephew, the man they thought they had buried.

His uncle took him home to his overjoyed relatives and mourners who paid their respects came to the house after they heard the news of his return.

Lunga had been missing since October last year. When the family saw his picture in Daily Sun on 7 July, where he was listed as a missing person, they went to Helen Joseph Hospital, only to be told Lunga had died.

Sello said he identified the body and they arranged his funeral.

“The body looked exactly like my nephew. It even had a small growth at the back of its head, just as my nephew did,” he said.

But the man he identified was clearly not his nephew!

“We had cried and were still mourning him when I was called to the school. When I saw him I pinched him. I knew he was alive when he said, ouch! Then I pinched myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.”

He said their stokvels and policies paid out money for the burial.

He said although the family was confused they welcomed Lunga with open arms.

“Lunga was an orphan. His mother died when he was young. We celebrated to make him feel at home as this was an opportunity for residents to see that he was still alive,” said Sello.

Lunga told Daily Sun he had been in rehab and the facility had found him a job.

“My employers wanted my school report so I went to the school to get it. I thought the teachers were joking when they said they’d buried me, but I believed them when I saw pupils running as if they had seen a ghost.”

He said he regrets not keeping in touch with his family.

“I hope they forgive me for what happened. It will take time for people to accept that I’m still alive.”

Angel of God’ lures 20 Year Old Girl, rapes her

Angel of God’ lures 20 Year Old Girl, rapes her

A 31-year-old commercial bus driver and Muslim faithful identified as Alaba Shodamola, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly raping a 20- year-old girl under the pretence of being her God-sent Angel.

The suspect convinced his victim that he was an angel sent by God to save her from being killed in the night by enemies.

Shodamola lives at 24, Mosan Road, Ipaja, Lagos, and was arrested after an illicit sexual affair with the unsuspecting girl.

According to Vanguard, the victim was later arrested by the police that night on her way home after the incident and upon interrogation, she alleged that she had been raped by the suspect following which the operatives moved swiftly, arrested the suspect and took him to Ipaja Police Station.

The suspected rapist was later handed over to the Family Support Unit (FSU), of the Isokoko Police Division, Agege, Lagos State.

However, the Ogun State-born rape suspect told Vanguard how he was able to convince his victim: “I’m a commercial bus driver and a Muslim. I’m fasting but the truth is that, nobody is above mistake.

“I know I’m a sinner apart from inheriting sins from my forefathers.

“I’m fasting but had to get myself involved in this sin. God knows anything that will happen to a man before it happens.

“I talked to God and pleaded for mercy; let Him have mercy on me. I believe in the Bible and the Koran.

“I got it wrong when I made a covenant with God that if he blessed me, I would serve him but immediately God blessed me, I reneged on that promise.

“I made money and spent it anyhow without going back to God. I believe that’s why he is punishing me.

“Before this happened about a month ago, I had a dream where I saw somebody arresting me but I did not understand it until this thing now happened.

“I have been seeing this girl on the street and I love her. I have been looking for ways to talk to her. So, that day around 9.00 pm when I saw her, I said to myself, I will sleep with this girl today.

“Then, I started thinking about how to convince her. I then walked to her. By that time, I had already closed from work.

“I asked her where she was going and she said her father sent her on an errand. I asked about her mother and she told me that her mother has died.
I’m not an angel; I just used that trick to lure her to bed.

“From there, I started my brain-game on her. I told her not to sleep in her father’s house that night, that I’m the angel God sent to save her life from death. I asked her to buy three sachets of salt and give to beggars.

“But she would have to come to my house for me to do the work that remains. I told her to follow me to my house which she did.

“She did not shout. I’m not married and I’m the only person living in my room. I’m not an angel; I just used that trick to lure her to my bed because I did not know what else to convince her with. I told her not to buy the salt again after having sex with her.
Domestic violence.

“When we got inside the house, I told her that we have to sleep together which she obliged and opened it herself. We did not force ourselves and I did not stay up to one hour. I did it once using condom, I did not even enjoy it.

“After that, she asked me to give her transport that she wanted to go home. It was around 1.00am in the night. She was on her way home when the police arrested her. She reported to them that I had raped her and led them to arrest me. Already, her father had reported to the station that her daughter was missing.”

Confirming the the arrest and detention of Shodamola, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Olarinde Famous-Cole said “we’re still investigating the matter,” adding that “the suspect will be charged to court in due time.”

He also warned young women to be careful with the way they relate with people they do not know.

Shock As Doctor Discovers Newborn Baby Boy Is ‘Pregnant’ With Twin Brother

Shock As Doctor Discovers Newborn Baby Boy Is ‘Pregnant’ With Twin Brother

Newborn baby boy is pregnant: A baby boy was born ‘pregnant’ with his own twin brother. Doctors discovered the half-formed male baby – complete with a brain, arm and legs – behind the otherwise-healthy baby boy’s stomach after he was born. They successfully operated to remove the 7cm mass, which they suspect was a rare ‘foetus in fetu’ twin pregnancy – one of around 200 ever recorded in the world.

Radiologist Dr Bhavna Thorat, who spotted the problem during a routine scan, said: ‘It was inside a fetal sac of the newborn.’ The unnamed baby and his 19-year-old mother from Mumbra, in India, are both healthy and doing well.

‘I could see a tiny head with the brain inside’

Dr Thorat noticed the abnormality during a routine scan of the pregnant woman at Bilal Hospital in Mumbra in early July. When the baby was born nine days later on July 20 he scanned the baby and found ‘another small baby’ inside the newborn’s abdomen. Dr Thorat said: ‘I could see bones of the upper and lower limbs of the fetus. ‘The unique thing about it was I could see a tiny head with the brain inside. ‘However, this parasitic twin didn’t have a skull bone.’

The newborn was taken to Titan Hospital in Thane for surgery to remove the 150g mass.

Dr. Nichlani added: ‘The baby is now doing extremely well and the mother will begin feeding him soon.’ ‘It can lead to death’. Gynecologist Dr Neena Nichlani said: ‘It is a case of monozygotic twin pregnancy sharing single placenta, where one fetus wraps itself around and envelops the other and robs the host of its nutrition. ‘It can be implanted in skull, abdomen or tail bone of the host. ‘Sometimes it can also lead to the death of the host because both get nutrition from a single cord.’ Dr Nichlani said the baby has been sent for further testing, reports are awaited.

Tension in Osogbo over rising cases of missing persons, ritual killings

Tension in Osogbo over rising cases of missing persons, ritual killings

THE Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, has said that his command has adopted intelligence gathering and due prosecution of culprits as an approach to stemming the tide of ritual killings in the state.

For the past few months, residents of Osogbo, the state capital, have lived in constant fear over the growing cases of missing persons and ritual killings.

Since late last year, suspects have been arrested by the police virtually on a monthly basis for alleged involvement in killing people for ritual purposes.

Adeoye told Saturday Tribune in a telephone interview that: “We are thoroughly exploring intelligence gathering approach, prosecution of arrested culprits to frontally tackle the increasing cases of ritual killings in the state. We believe that timely arrest and prosecution of arrested suspects would serve as deterrent to anybody contemplating to perpetrate ritual killing and we are also embarking on sensitisation of the people of Osun State on how to avoid falling prey to suspected ritual killers.”

Desperation for quick riches is said to be driving some people to resort to the use of human parts for rituals in achieving this inordinate desire. And the usual suspects have been people believed to be clerics, popularly called alfa, and herbalists who carry out the rituals for their ‘clients’.

In December 2016, a 400 level female student of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN), identified as Rofiat Damilola Adebisi, was declared missing after attending a religious programme in Ikoyi town, off the Ibadan-Ife Expressway. After days of frantic search by her friends and family members, her corpse was found in Iragbiji in Boripe Local Government Area of the state. But after investigations, the police arrested two suspects in connection with the student’s murder. The suspects, Elijah Oyebode (22) and Yusuf Ajibade (25) were later remanded in Ilesa prison by a magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo. They were said to have been remanded due to the gravity of their offence.

Oyebode, a commercial driver, had confessed to hypnotising the deceased who had boarded his vehicle from Ipetu Ijesa to Osogbo. He explained that he subsequently delivered her to the herbalist, one Mr Jelili, who paid him N10,000 for the job. Oyebode added that the herbalist had given him a charm to use on a young lady who had never given birth before. The second accused person allegedly received one Apple Iphone 5 valued at N100,000 stolen from the deceased after she was killed.

Similarly, four students of the same university who were declared missing late last year are yet to be found, even though the commissioner of police, Mr Adeoye, told Saturday Tribune that efforts were still on to find the undergraduates.

However, the recent case of a final year student of the institution, Oluwafemi Shonibare, angered his colleagues who embarked on a violent protest, in Osogbo, of the kidnap and killings of their colleagues for money rituals. The decomposing body of Shonibare, who was declared missing on 26 June, 2017 by his colleagues, was discovered in a bush within the town.

A number of concerned residents of Osogbo, on July 27, besieged the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, to protest the high incidence of ritual killings and kidnapping in the state capital and other parts of the state. The protesters, mostly women, implored the monarch to find a way to check the wickedness. Brandishing leaf branches and chanting sorrowful songs, the aggrieved residents were not able to have audience with the monarch as the palace guards told them that Oba Olanipekun had travelled to Offa, Kwara State, to attend a function.

One of the protesters, a market woman at Oluode market identified as Mrs Olanike Ajibola, informed Saturday Tribune that the situation had become terrible in the last few weeks as ritualists were on the prowl in the town looking for preys. Ajbola, who spoke in Yoruba language, said: “We are now living in fear. Our children are not free anymore. Just a few days ago, a man was caught after turning a resident to a snake at the Tanishi area of Osogbo. Also, in our market at Olu-Ode on the 26th of July, a man escaped after being suspected of trying to abduct a boy in the market. This is getting out of hand and we can’t take it anymore. That is why we are here to ask Kabiyesi (the monarch) to find an end to it.”

Saturday Tribune learnt that since the state police command paraded some suspected ritualists caught with human parts in Osogbo, there have been tension in most parts of the town as residents now go to bed earlier than usual.

The state police chief recently paraded three persons in Osogbo for allegedly beheading Shonibare for ritual purposes at the Oke Baale area of the town. Adeoye disclosed that the suspects conspired and hit the victim with a mortar-pestle on the head before beheading him. His hands were cut off and his remains dumped in the bush. He said investigations by the police led to the arrest of a 19-year-old herbalist’s apprentice, Sakariyahu Abdulrafiu and two of his accomplices, Ayuba Ibrahim, 24 and Yusuff Kareem, 18, with the police on the trail of one other suspect who was at large.

In a related development, the police, in June, paraded a suspect, Ajibade Rasheed, who was in possession of fresh human parts which he intended to use for ritual purposes. The suspect, who claimed to be a cleric, said someone had brought the human parts to him to make money rituals.

About two weeks ago, residents of the Tanishi area of Osogbo almost lynched a man for allegedly turning a resident to a snake. The mob beat the suspect until he became unconscious. The intervention of a soldier was said to have prevented the suspect from being killed. After the suspect was rescued and rushed to a police station, the mob was chased away by some armed policemen. A police officer, it was learnt, later informed the mob that the suspect was a lunatic. Some residents also claimed that there had been cases of abduction attempts on children in the town.

Even churches in the Oke Bale area have shifted the time of their programmes to daytime in order to forestall ritualists who use the cover of darkness to perpetrate that dastardly act. It was gathered that most residents who have witnessed attempted kidnapping or ritual killing have resorted to going to bed early while the area usually become deserted around 9.00 p.m.

When Saturday Tribune visited the palace of the Ataoja for his reaction on Wednesday, the monarch expressed concern over the rising cases of ritual killings but contended that the ugly incidents were not peculiar to Osogbo. Asked what could be the solution to the menace, he said that was up to the police and declined further comments on the issue.

Efforts to get the statistics on the cases of missing persons and people believed to have been killed for ritual purposes in the state from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs Folasade Odoro, proved abortive as she said the information requested could not be readily made available because she was attending a training programme.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adeoye, in his chat with Saturday Tribune, contended that his command was making progress in nipping such acts in the bud. “I have mentioned it at various fora that the people should avoid staying in isolated areas where criminals can easily attack without being noticed and everybody should be conscious of their immediate environment”, he said.
