Hausa/Fulani community in Asaba attacked, many feared dead, injured

Unidentified gunmen stormed Hausa/Fulani community in Asaba, capital of Delta State killing about four and injuring many others.

The suspected assailants, who invaded the unsuspecting Hausa/Fulani settlement at about 10pm Friday night at the Abraka market within the Asaba metropolis, killed three men, one woman and left several others with injuries.

Armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, the suspected killers shot sporadically into where the people were sleeping.

A credible Hausa source told our correspondent that the suspects also threw bomb into their Mosgue at Cable point, adding that a brave Hausa man picked up the bomb and threw it into the river before it could explode.

The source who pleaded anonymity at press time, said armed soldiers and policemen came to their rescue, chasing the suspected invaders away.

He said the security agents took the injured persons to the hospital for treatment and deposited the corps of the deceased at the mortuary, lamenting that they did not sleep all through the night.

Man flogs wife for closing her legs when he tried to sleep with her

A man reportedly battered his wife for proving stubborn every time they tried to sleep together.

The incident happened in the early hours of morning at Ewusu Street in Ketu, Lagos where they reside.

It was gathered that angry Destiny Odiaka reportedly moved to touch her wife, Uzor, but she stubbornly covered her legs after much pleading and persuasion.

Odiaka then brought out cane and rained beatings on her legs to force her to open up breasts and other part of her body. She shouted and attracted their neighbours that early morning before the neighbours intervened.

It was learnt that when they eventually opened their door and the neighbours attempted to know what was the cause of the problem, the wife did not say anything but the husband replied that she has proved too stubborn in the house.

The neighbours left them and returned to their apartments concluding that it was husband and wife matter.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the wife thereafter reported the matter to the police and Odiaka was arrested and charged before a Lagos court for assault under the Criminal Code.

He pleaded not guilty at the Ikeja Magistrates court where he was arraigned.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect her bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 5th of December, 2017.
