Man Utd’s overall fixture list for the Premier League season looks fairly forgiving, with just one instance of facing back-to-back clashes against classic top-four opponents. This happens in December when they meet Arsenal a week before the Manchester derby.

The Red Devils ease into the season with four fixture passing before having to face their first top-10 finisher from the 2016-17 term in Everton, and finding their first top-four finisher in Liverpool eight games in.

Big things are expected from Jose Mourinho in his second season at the helm, with qualification for Champions League football likely a must as the club continue to spend heavily in the transfer market.

Failure to finish in the top four would surely see confidence in the Portuguese drop, while the club’s fans and board will undoubtedly expect something resembling a title push from the off.

With City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham all looking strong and making their own additions over the summer, however, much will rest on their ability to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the club’s leading scorer this season.

I have sold 20 children in 2 years Including my daughter’ – 22-year-old woman reveals

‘I have sold 20 children in 2 years Including my daughter’ – 22-year-old woman reveals

Twenty-two-year-old Chinaza Onwuasoanya, is now gnashing her teeth in the custody of the Special Armed Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Anambra State Police Command, after refusing to retrace her steps and turn a new leaf.

Onwuasoanya was impregnated by her boyfriend in Lagos and returned to Anambra State to have the baby but was too ashamed to go back home to her parents. After giving birth to a baby girl, a friend introduced her to 45-year-old Goodness, who runs an orphanage, which the police allege, was a cover for a baby-trafficking operation.

Onwuasoanya easily handed over the baby girl in exchange for the sum of N150,000 paid to her by Goodness and moved on with her life. The money she made from the evil transaction apparently opened her eyes to the possibility of earning more from the same source. Without batting an eyelid, she moved into child-trafficking, thereby sinking deeper into iniquity.

Recounting her journey into child-trafficking, Onwuasoanya told Sunday Sun: “I got into child trafficking two years ago. I have sold 20 male and female children to Madam Goodness who operates the orphanage. She paid me between N150,000 and N200,000 for each baby I sold to her.

I got to know her when I became pregnant and gave birth to a girl on October 4, 2013. After I delivered the baby, a friend introduced me to Madam Goodness. I took my daughter to her and she gave me N150,000.00, to take care of myself. After that time, I decided to go into child trafficking by kidnapping children coming back from school or getting them in the street. Then I would take them to Madam Goodness. And she would sell them between N150,000 and N200,000.

But I was arrested on May 1, 2017, when I stole a set of twins at an estate in Onitsha and took them to my house. Suddenly the father of the twins traced me to my house and came with policemen and I was arrested.”

Onwuasoanya who hails from Ebenebe, Awka North Local Government Area, Anambra State, made interesting revelations to the police while being interrogated. She confessed to being a member of the gang of robbers who killed two policemen, Inspector Shuaibu Usman and Sergeant Julius Matthew, of Police Mobile Force 29 in February, 2017 at Nkpor fly-over, Onitsha and took their AK-47 rifles, which were later used to commit robberies in Nkpor, Obosi, Ogidi, Nkpor Old Road, Awka, Oye-agu.

She also assisted the SARS operatives to arrest three members of the gang while the other six members escaped and are still at large. She disclosed that she was always given her own share of the money made during robbery operations, saying that she got between N50,000 and N80,000.

Though the prodigal daughter is now filled with regret, it appears too late, as the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Samuel Okaula, indicated. Besides, she passed up the opportunity to retrace her steps after giving birth to the baby. As she noted, her parents are still alive and probably agonizing over their daughter who deviated from the strait and narrow path and chose the way that has now put her in police custody for allegedly associating with armed robbers and engaging in child-trafficking.

“I have regretted what I did. My parents are alive. It was my friend who introduced to child trafficking and which led me to armed robbery today,” Onwuasoanya said, the reality of what lies ahead weigh heavily on her mind.

Meanwhile, the Commander of SARS, Supol Sunday Okpe confirmed that Ownuasoanya’s confession led to the arrest of three people alleged to be members of the gang. The suspects are: Ifeanyi Onwukwe a.k.a Nger, 22; Chidubem Osita a.k.a Kabaka, 23, and Chijioke Obi a.k.a Abababa, who is 23 years old.

When prodded by Sunday Sun for comments, Onwukwe said: “It is true that we killed two policemen at Nkpor, we went with one vehicle and three motorcycles which we always used for our robbery operations. We always met at the football field at Nkpor to plan our strategies. The SARS operatives recovered an AK47 rifle from us. We used the AK47 rifle to carry out our operations.”

Goodness who admitted to running an orphanage, which had 15 children, however, denied engaging in child trafficking. She added: “Students who got pregnant come to us to deliver their babies, and we take care of them. Also children whose parents died are brought to us too.

I don’t sell children rather I take care of them. I have never known Chinasa Onwuasoanya in my life.” (Source: Sun)

I took to crime after my father disowned me' – Nigeria's number 1 kidnapper, Evans reveals

'I took to crime after my father disowned me' – Nigeria's number 1 kidnapper, Evans reveals

Jun 14, 2017 7:12 AM

The kidnap kingpin, Chukwudubem Onwuamadike, a.k.a Evans, who was arrested last Saturday by operatives of Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, for coordinating several high-profile kidnappings, armed robbery and murder within Lagos, Edo, Abia, Enugu and Anambra States, yesterday, revealed that his father’s decision to disown him was the reason he took to crime.

Evans, who received millions of dollars as ransom from his victims, during his reign as an ingenious kidnapper in the country, revealed that he was forced to drop out of school while in Junior Secondary School Class 2, when his father, Steven Onwuamadike, drove his mother, Chinwe, away and got married to another woman.

Evans in his disclosure, yesterday, explained that his father, who is a businessman asked him to join another business man, a spare parts dealer, also in Nnewi, who he served for five years without settlement because the man later accused him of stealing. This development, according to him, embarrassed his father so much that he drove him out of his house. Evans who is a native of Akamili, Umudim Quarters, Nnewi, Anambra State, stated that his father’s action affected him deeply and he was forced to move into his mother’s house.

He said his mother accepted him and she also raised money for him which he used in travelling to Lagos. While in Lagos, Evans disclosed that he started selling diesel to luxury buses and truck drivers at Alafia Bus-stop along Lagos-Badagry Expressway. He explained that, while he was selling diesel, he slept in a bus garage and that was where he joined a robbery gang.

'My first robbery gang'

Evans’ first robbery gang specialized in attacking luxury buses plying the East – West Road, at night. Police sources explained that Evans was involved in several highway robberies from which he raised enough money with which he travelled to South Africa.

A former anti-robbery police operative attached to Orile Police Station, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that Evans and his gang specialized in robbing traders in luxury buses travelling at night on the road. The ex-policeman added that Evans who had several informants around motor parks in Alafia, Maza-Maza and Jibowu areas of Lagos State, used to obtain first hand information on the movements of traders coming to Lagos State with huge amounts of money from informants working at major luxury buses parks across the country.

The source disclosed that Evans and his gang would attack these buses on the highway and dispossess the passengers of their cash and other valuables, explaining that some of his gang members were arrested and when the police were closing in on him, he fled the country to return a few years later and relocated to the East.
Forming another gang

It was gathered that while in the East, he formed another dangerous gang that started robbing and kidnapping wealthy business men especially in the commercial city of Onitsha in Anambra State and Aba in Abia State. When his notoriety soared in criminal circles, other robbery gangs started seeking him. That was how he became the financier of arms and armourer for the fearless and deadly armed robbery kingpin in the east from Nkanu in Enugu State, popularly called Ngwu Ekekere Omu, who robbed banks all over the country until he was killed in Anambra by a military patrol team that blocked a road on a tip-off from members of the Special anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Awka.

Afterwards, he carried out a bloody robbery operation at the university town of Nsukka, Enugu State, where he killed among others, a Divisional Police Officer and later shot the SARS Commander in Enugu in the knee while they were pursuing him along Adani/Otuocha road.

During that operation, he also burnt down Nsukka Police Station after raiding one of the banks and as he was escaping from the scene with his gang, they threw bundles of crisp Naira notes in different denominations to the cheering crowd and commercial motorcyclists, including school children who were on their way home. Ngwu Ekere Omu died in 2009 and most of his gang members were hunted down and eliminated by members of the Special anti-Robbery Squad in Enugu and Anambra states. Police sources said Evans participated actively in that deadly operation and later, after some of their gang members including their leader were killed, he again escaped abroad.

Going into full-time kidnapping

On his return, according to sources, he veered into full time kidnapping with Lagos as his base. He used to pose as a spare parts dealer from South Africa with proceeds of his crime. Reports also alleged that he participated in some operations with another notorious killer, Vampire, who was later killed by the Police after plotting his escape from Owerri court in Imo State, while on trial. Investigations revealed that Evans later linked up with another notorious kidnapper called Henry Hunchman in Anambra State and they coordinated several kidnappings. They were later chased out of Anambra State and they fled to Edo State.

Evans told newsmen that he teamed up with one of his friends, Ehis, in Edo state and they started kidnapping. He disclosed that Ehis introduced him to some of his friends known as Benin Papa, Odionose, Okey and Igbo Papa and they coordinated several kidnappings.

He further explained that he was forced to invite his friend, Hunchman, who he said had heavy arms and ammunition to join them in Edo State. According to him, ‘’When Hunchman came in, we carried out two big kidnappings that yielded N150 million, but Hunchman who owned the arms and ammunition, ran away with the money.’’

Brazil vs. Argentina final looks on the cards after Copa Libertadores draw

Brazil vs. Argentina final looks on the cards after Copa Libertadores draw

Jun 15, 2017 4:24 AM

The draw for the knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores points to a likely final between sides from Brazil and Argentina.

Transfer news aside, international football dominates the headlines this time of year. But in the brief window between friendlies and World Cup qualifiers on one hand, and the start of the Confederations Cup on the other, the South American club game has stolen the limelight.

The draw took place Wednesday night at CONMEBOL HQ in Paraguay for the knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores. The field has been whittled to 16 teams, which will now play home-and-away matches all the way until the continent proclaims its champion at the end of November.

Previously the action was crammed into the first half of the year, overflowing into late July or early August in World Cup years. And previously there was no need for a draw; a team's position in the group phase determined its knockout opponent, with the group winner with the best record facing the runner-up with the worst, and so on.

This time, though, there is more time to pause and hold a party -- one in which CONMEBOL president Alejandro Dominguez can further emphasise how his organisation has changed since the corruption crisis. "Money will never again be the objective," he said. "Football is the objective."

And if the objective is to help ensure that the Libertadores does not end in a final between two clubs of the same country, then the draw has been kind. Four of the last 16 teams are from Argentina. Six are from Brazil. And the way things have panned out, a final between Brazilian and Argentine sides might well be the most likely outcome.

There are no draws for the quarterfinals, semifinals or final. These stages have already been arranged, and it is possible to plot the path each team must take to reach the final. As is the case with all such draws, the teams essentially divide into two halves, with the winner of each meeting to dispute the title. And it is striking that one half of the draw has three clubs from Argentina and just one from Brazil, while the other has five Brazilians and a lone Argentine. So the only way that there can be an all-Brazilian final would be for Atletico Mineiro, off to a terrible start in the domestic league, to fight their way through three rounds. And the only way there can be an all-Argentina final is if modest Godoy Cruz do the same -- and they must begin by eliminating in-form Gremio in the only Brazil-Argentina clash of the coming round.

The Argentines clearly feel themselves at a disadvantage because of the calendar. The first-leg matches in this second round take place at the start of July, with the return matches happening, strangely, over a month later. Club football in Brazil keeps going all the way through July, while Argentina takes a break. Argentina's clubs, then, will be at the very end of their season for the first leg, and short of match practice for the second. They have been trying to move behind the scenes to change the dates. More likely, perhaps, is a switch in the future to a competition that follows the European calendar, starting in August, breaking for the South American high summer in January and coming to a conclusion in May. An obvious problem with the February-to-November model is that the global transfer window opens just as the Libertadores reaches the decisive stages. Some of the stars of the group phase could be whisked away.

The draw is as follows. On one side:

Guarani (Paraguay) vs. River Plate (Argentina)
Jorge Wilstermann (Bolivia) vs. Atletico Mineiro (Brazil)
Emelec (Ecuador ) vs. San Lorenzo (Argentina)
The Strongest (Bolivia) vs. Lanus (Argentina)

And on the other side:

Atletico Paranaense (Brazil) vs. Santos (Brazil)
Nacional (Uruguay) vs. Botafogo (Brazil)
Godoy Cruz (Argentina) vs. Gremio (Brazil)
Barcelona (Ecuador) vs. Palmeiras (Brazil)

The first-named clubs are at home in the first leg (July 2-5) and away in the return game (Aug. 8-10).
