Quinton Fortune wants Manchester United to complete their summer signings in a swift manner ahead of the 2017-18 season

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho

Quinton Fortune is hoping Manchester United can act decisively in the summer transfer window.

Jose Mourinho was appointed as Louis van Gaal’s successor in May 2016 after a disappointing two-season spell under the Dutch coach.

The former Chelsea boss wasted no time bringing in some top signings as Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all completed transfers to Old Trafford.

Manchester United smashed the world record transfer fee when Paul Pogba completed an £89m move to Old Trafford from Serie A giants Juventus back in August.

Mourinho has been linked with a host of players this summer as the Manchester United boss looks to improve his squad after a sixth-place finish last term.

Sweden defender Victor Lindelof became the first signing of the summer on Wednesday after the defender completed his medical at Manchester United.

Former midfielder Fortune is hoping that Mourinho can complete his transfer deals in a swift manner ahead of the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

“Hopefully, we will get some signings as good as the ones we got last season – Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Micki [Henrikh Mkhitaryan]. All were high quality and the deals were done very quickly,” Quinton told Man United’s website.

“He [Jose] was very clear on the players he wanted and it was good to see that we went out and got them quickly. We settled them in, and it took a bit of time, but they’ve been brilliant, every single one of them.

“I hope we’ll have the same kind of summer, bringing in a few new faces and strengthening the club. Manchester United always need to strengthen, it’s good for competition, and the aim next season in my opinion, and I’m sure the manager will think the same, has got to be to win the Premier League. It’s nice being back in the Champions League but the main goal will be winning the league.”
